Family Fun!

1 June 2011 13 Comments

Life is busy when you’re a parent- can you believe it’s June already! Summer is almost here, and with it comes the promise of long happy days having fun with our families.

This week it’s the Half Term holiday for many children in the UK and we thought we’d celebrate by asking you BornFree Parents: What makes a perfect Family Day?

You could tell us about a day trip out that your family has made, or a special day you’ve spent together at home, it could be something you’ve already done or something that’s on your family’s wish list.

Leave your answer here as a comment after this post, on our Facebook Fanpage wall or in an email to anne@newbornfree.com by midnight on Tuesday 7th May and we’ll send the winner their choice of 2 BornFree Bottles or Cups.

Update: 08/06/11 And our winner is Michele E, congratulations! And a big thank you to everyone who told us about their perfect family day x

A perfect family day for me would be to have everyone at home (i usually have my sister with my niece and nephew and my mum over once a week) and we have a family day. This week we have made salt dough figures. The kids love doing arty things and I usually kit my cupboard out going to pound land lol! This is the perfect family day for me, we all have fun and laugh all day. I can’t wait for my little boy to join in when he is older xx

Each year our family travels down from South Yorkshire to Kent to visit my Husbands Mum. We always make the most of our week away which usually involves going to Dover Castle, Historic Dockyard at Chatham, Dickens World, Herne Bay Swimming pool, Birchington to visit Uncle Richard because there is a beach across the road :o )
We take a picnic and have a fantastic time.
This year will be even better because our youngest daughter will get to make her first sand castle and to have her first paddle in the sea with help from her big sister.
To me this is and always will be the perfect family day. But having said that every day is a perfect family day :o )

A picnic in the park, followed by feeding the ducks. Anything outdoors really but me, husband and our little girl, she is sufficiently small just now (18 weeks) that activities are a bit beyond her, but taking us all outside and enjoying the weather sounds lush!

My perfect day out with my family would have to be… a lovely walk to our local country park where they have built a lovely new wooden park there, then go rambling through the woods looking for all kinds of mini beasts and then a lovely spot of lunch at the local pub inn… just a lovely fantastic relaxing day x

Our perfect day starts with a lie-in and lots of cuddles before we go downstairs for some golden toast with raspberry jam. Afterwards we go in to the living room for some more cuddles with Amy, our 6 week old baby girl, – I just can’t get enough of them. We then either venture out for a day in the park or zoo and come back home in the late afternoon to cook a tummy meal that we will enjoy with a nice glass of wine and our legs up before we bathe Amy and get her and us ready for bed.

a perfect family day is time together with nothing to do, no scedule to fit into, nothing to get ready for, or get to. Just the four of doing whatever we want, together in our own time! :)

My perfect day was last week when my mum and dad came down to visit us for the first time in 3 years. My dad has cancer and my mum has end stage emphysema and as I live 150 miles away I don’t see very much of them. We took my daughters aged 8 and 2 to feed the ducks then went for lunch at a pub on the river. Later on my husband, dad and daughters went down to the beach and we watched the sun go down, it was the most perfect day and will be etched in my memory for ever.
